Brampton squeaks by Wichita, 3-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brampton Beast escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Wichita Thunder.

No lead was more than one goal during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Calin Wild at 14:13 of the third period.

Brampton's penalty kill excelled, as the Beast gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

Brampton was led by Wild, who registered one goal.

The Beast were below their usual level of shot production, taking 18 shots compared to the 24.8 Brampton averages. The Beast could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 21 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for Brampton included Ben Woodley and Matt Caruana, who each put in one. In addition, Brampton received assists from Jason Pitton, who had two and Michael MacIsaac, Josh McQuade, Rob Collins, and Brent Vandehogen, who contributed one a piece.

Wichita relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Andrew Martens, Jon Booras and Ian Lowe took 16 of the team's 31 shots.

Jared Walker also scored for Wichita. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were Jesse Dudas, who had one.

Kristofer Westblom made 29 saves for Brampton on 31 shots. The Beast registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Brown David rejected 15 shots on goal for the Thunder. Wichita ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
