The game between the Allen Americans and the Arizona Sundogs was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Allen emerged with a 5-3 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Alex Lavoie at 13:53 of the third period.

Lavoie was all over the ice for the Americans, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Allen put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 27.7 it averages per game.

Allen also got points from Phil Fox, who also had one goal and one assist and Gregor Hanson, who also registered two goals and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Allen came via Trevor Ludwig, Spencer Asuchak, Jarret Lukin, and Jonathan Lessard, who each chipped in one and Kale Kerbashian and Darryl Bootland, who contributed two a piece.

Arizona kept the Americans' goalie busy throughout the game, and Mark Guggenberger made 35 saves on 38 shots.

The Sundogs were helped by Paul McIlveen, who tallied one goal. McIlveen scored on the power play 13:09 into the third period to make the score 3-3. Arizona had taken the advantage when Allen's Daniel Tetrault got sent off for interference. Ryan Gaucher picked up the assist. Others who scored for Arizona included Bryan Cameron and Ian Schultz, who scored one goal each. In addition, Arizona received assists from Kevin Baker, who had two and Dion Campbell and Jordan Clendenning, who each chipped in one.

The Americans totaled 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Andrew Engelage made 29 saves for the Sundogs on 33 shots. Arizona totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 2-for-4 on the power play. For the Sundogs, Garrett Clarke was ejected from the game.
