The Wichita Thunder survived a determined comeback attempt by the Brampton Beast on the way to a 3-2 win. Wichita made the score 3-1 on a goal by Ian Lowe at 14:58 in the third period, and Brampton got as close as 3-2 when Jamie VanderVeeken scored 17:40 into the third period. The Thunder were sparked by Lowe, who racked up one goal. By firing 27 shots on goal, Wichita exceeded the 23.4 shots it averages per game this year. The Thunder's defensemen bolstered Wichita's offensive attack, as they bombarded Grant Rollheiser with 11 shots. Wichita also had goals scored by Matt Robinson and Tomas Klempa, who scored one goal each. In addition, Wichita received assists from Jesse Dudas and Matt Summers, who each chipped in one and Andrew Martens and Jon Booras, who contributed two a piece. Michael MacIsaac also scored for Brampton. More assists for Brampton came via Rob Collins, who had two and Andrew Fournier and Tylor Michel, who each chipped in one. The Thunder's Taylor Nelson stopped 25 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Wichita incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Grant Rollheiser made 24 saves for the Beast on 27 shots. Brampton incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
