Denver rides Patterson to victory over Rapid City, 2-1

Kent Patterson stood on his head and made 37 saves to lead the Denver Cutthroats to a 2-1 victory over Rapid City.

Denver was sparked by Robin Soudek, who registered one goal. Soudek scored on the power play 15:12 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Denver. The Cutthroats had gained a power play chance when Scott Brannon was whistled for boarding. Jean-Philipp Chabot picked up the assist.

With 37 shots on target during the contest, Denver exceeded the 26.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Denver also got a goal from Garrett Bembridge as well. In addition, Denver received assists from Lee Moffie, Troy Schwab, and Michael Schumacher, who each chipped in one.

Rapid City was held below its usual level of production. Rapid City averages 3.6 goals per game. Rapid City forced the Cutthroats goalie Patterson to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots.

Rapid City was led by Kyle Stroh, who scored the team's only goal. Stroh scored on the power play 2:46 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City. Rapid City had taken the advantage when Denver's Moffie got sent off for slashing. Konrad Reeder provided the assist.

The Cutthroats incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Boron rejected 35 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
