Rapid City rips Wichita, 4-1

Rapid City had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Wichita Thunder.

Rapid City's Tim Boron was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 39 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Boron will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.14.

Rapid City was led by Scott Brannon, who had one goal and one assist. Brannon scored 8:10 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Rapid City. Eric Giosa assisted on the tally.

Rapid City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wichita to score on any of its four power plays. Rapid City kept the Thunder's goalie busy throughout the game, and Torrie Jung made 30 saves on 34 shots.

Rapid City additionally got points from Kyle Stroh, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Rapid City included Justin Faryna and Konrad Reeder, who scored one goal each. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Riley Weselowski, Winston Day Chief, Jesse Schultz, Jared Brown, and Scott Wray, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City was unable to stop Wichita from sending pucks towards the net, and the Thunder eventually piled up 40 shots on goal.

Wichita was led by Dustin Donaghy, who took two shots.

Rapid City totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-1 on the power play. The Thunder ended with nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major.
