The Allen Americans came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Brampton Beast, but did just enough to escape with a 5-3 victory. Allen led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Americans' Phil Fox's scored at 7:18 in the second period to put Allen up 3-0. Fox was all over the ice for the Americans, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Allen's penalty kill excelled, as the Americans gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays. The Allen penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Americans surpassed its season average of 23.0 penalty minutes per game. Allen stifled Brampton's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Americans' defensemen bolstered Allen's offensive attack, as they bombarded Grant Rollheiser with 17 shots. By firing 39 shots on goal, the Americans exceeded the 32.9 shots they average per game this year. Allen also got points from Ross Rouleau, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Allen also got a goal from Spencer Asuchak as well. More assists for Allen came via Kale Kerbashian, who had two and Tyler Ludwig, Daniel Tetrault, Garrett Klotz, and Jarret Lukin, who contributed one a piece. The Beast racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 23.0 minutes per game Brampton had been spending in the box. The Beast stifled Allen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Brampton was helped by Matt Caruana, who racked up two goals. Caruana scored the first of his two goals at 16:43 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Allen. Josh McQuade provided the assist. Caruana's next tally made the score 4-3 Allen with 18:59 left in the third period. McQuade assisted on the tally. Brampton additionally got points from McQuade, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. In addition, Brampton received assists from Andrew Darrigo, Erik Spady, and Jamie VanderVeeken, who each chipped in one. Bryan Pitton recorded 21 saves for the Americans. Allen registered zero goals on six power play opportunities. The Beast's Rollheiser stopped 34 shots out of the 39 that he faced.
