Rapid City rides Boron to victory over Brampton, 4-1Rushmore Plaza Civic Arena Fri, Oct 25, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
A stellar performance between the pipes by Tim Boron helped Rapid City defeat the Brampton Beast, 4-1. Rapid City pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 26 penalty minutes. Rapid City was sparked by Kyle Stroh, who finished with one goal and one assist. Stroh scored 13:49 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City. Bob Preece assisted on the tally. Rapid City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in seven chances. Rapid City put 47 shots on net during the contest, more than the 38.5 it averages per game. Rapid City also got a goal from Winston Day Chief as well. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Jesse Schultz, Jared Brown, Eric Giosa, Tristin Llewellyn, and Scott Brannon, who each chipped in one. Brampton forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Beast had been averaging 22.0 minutes in penalties per game. The 35 shots that Brampton put on net surpassed the Beast's average of 29.8 shots per game this season. Brampton was led by Andrew Fournier, who scored the team's only goal. Fournier scored 11:52 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Jamie VanderVeeken picked up the assist. Boron recorded 34 saves for Rapid City. Rapid City registered one goal on nine power play opportunities. Grant Rollheiser made 43 saves for the Beast on 47 shots.
