Dell stymies Wichita, Allen wins 2-1

The Allen Americans relied on the sparkling performance of Aaron Dell in net to grab a 2-1 win against the Wichita Thunder.

With the win, Allen evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

The Americans were led by Brian McMillin, who finished with one goal and one assist. McMillin scored 2:46 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Jason Deitsch assisted on the tally.

Allen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances.

Allen also got points from Deitsch, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Jamie Schaafsma, who had two.

Wichita stifled the Americans' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Thunder forced Allen goalie Dell to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots.

Wichita was led by Matt Summers, who scored the team's only goal. Summers scored 12:31 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita. Chad Painchaud provided the assist.

Dell rejected 35 shots on goal for the Americans. Allen incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Torrie Jung recorded 22 saves for the Thunder. Wichita incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
