Schaafsma's goals lift Allen to 4-1 victory over Missouri

The Allen Americans relied on the scoring touch of Jamie Schaafsma, who netted two goals, to beat the Missouri Mavericks, 4-1.

Schaafsma scored at 15:39 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen and again while 3:15 into the second to make the score 2-0 Allen.

With the win, Allen evened the series at 1-1 in the best of seven showdown.

The Americans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Missouri power plays. Allen's offense rang up 33 shots on Missouri's net. The defensemen of the Americans were also effective in the Mavericks' zone, and came away with two goals.

Allen also got a goal from Tyler Ludwig as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Corbin Baldwin, Chris Doyle, and Jim McKenzie, who contributed one a piece.

Missouri excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Mavericks relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Dave Pszenyczny, John-Scott Dickson and Kellen Tochkin took 13 of the team's 25 shots.

Missouri was led by Blake Forsyth, who scored the team's only goal. Forsyth scored 12:31 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Allen. Ryan Jardine assisted on the tally.

Aaron Dell made 24 saves for Allen on 25 shots. The Americans incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Mathieu Corbiel rejected 29 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
