Painchaud lifts Wichita over Tulsa, 5-2

Chad Painchaud had two goals to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 5-2 victory over the Tulsa Oilers.

Painchaud's tallies came at 8:48 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Wichita and 18:49 into the second to make the score 4-2 Wichita.

Wichita excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Thunder's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.2 shots per game they average.

Wichita also got points from Kevin Young, who also tallied one goal and two assists. Matt Summers also scored for Wichita. More assists for Wichita came via Neil Trimm, who had two and Todd Griffith and Ian Lowe, who each chipped in one.

By firing 28 shots on goal, Tulsa exceeded the 17.7 shots it averages per game this year. The Oilers' defensemen bolstered Tulsa's offensive attack, as they bombarded Grant Rollheiser with 12 shots.

The Oilers were helped by Ryan Cramer, who grabbed one goal. Cramer scored 15:07 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Wichita. Tyler Fleck picked up the assist. Tulsa also got a goal from Kyle OKane as well. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Sean Erickson, Drew Fisher, and Ryan Barlock, who contributed one a piece.

Wichita's Rollheiser stopped 26 shots out of the 28 that he faced. The Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors and had no power play opportunities. Shane Madolora rejected 30 shots on goal for Tulsa.
