Booras leads Bloomington over Quad City, 8-5

The Bloomington Blaze's Jon Booras had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing three assists in his team's 8-5 win over the Quad City Mallards.

Booras beat Neil Conway with a shot 15:43 into the third period to make the score 6-4 Bloomington. Brett Lutes provided the assist. Booras dished an assist on Dan Barczuk's goal that made the score 3-2 Quad City at 14:11 into the second period. He then added assists on Lutes' goal at 35 seconds into the third and on Lutes' goal at 19:30 into the third.

Bloomington put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Quad City to score on any of its three power plays. The Blaze outdid their season average for goals scored. Bloomington has scored at the pace of 3.6 goals per game during the current campaign. The Blaze relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Barczuk, Travis Granbois and Booras took 21 of the team's 41 shots.

Bloomington additionally got points from Granbois, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Lutes, who also had two goals and two assists, and David Gilbert, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bloomington also got a goal from Matthew Larke as well. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Nicolas Rioux, Jared Walker, and Sean OConnor, who each chipped in one and Aaron Dawson and Leo Thomas, who contributed two a piece.

The 31 shots that the Mallards put on net surpassed Quad City's average of 24.9 shots per game this season.

The Mallards were led by Mickey Lang, who finished with one goal and two assists. Lang scored 8:32 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Obi Aduba assisted on the tally. Quad City also got points from Aduba, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Shayne Toporowski, who also had one goal and one assist. Darren McMillan also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Michael Monfredo and Mike Stinziani, who each chipped in one and Anthony Perdicaro and Mike Hellyer, who contributed two a piece.

Bloomington's Pier-Olivier Pelletier stopped 26 shots out of the 31 that he faced. The Blaze incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Conway rejected 33 shots on goal for Quad City. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
