Tulsa beats Bloomington 2-1 after comeback scare

The Tulsa Oilers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Bloomington Blaze on the way to a 2-1 win.

Tulsa made the score 2-0 on a goal by Ryan Cramer at 16:58 in the first period, and Bloomington got as close as 2-1 when Matthew Larke scored 3:14 into the third period.

Cramer had a great game for the Oilers, netting two goals.

By firing 23 shots on goal, Tulsa exceeded the 17.3 shots it averages per game this year. The Oilers' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game.

Other players who recorded assists for Tulsa were Ryan Menei, who had two and Jeff Buvinow and Sean Erickson, who each chipped in one.

The Blaze's offense operated below they season average. Bloomington puts an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. The Blaze relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jon Booras, David Gilbert and Brett Lutes took 19 of the team's 37 shots.

In addition, Bloomington received assists from Leland Fidler, who had one.

Shane Madolora rejected 36 shots on goal for Tulsa. The Oilers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 21 saves for Bloomington on 23 shots. The Blaze incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
