Rapid City rides Battochio to victory over Bloomington, 4-1

Danny Battochio had a standout game with 28 saves, and Rapid City beat the Bloomington Blaze 4-1.

Rapid City was paced by Rusty Masters, who racked up one goal. Masters scored 16:13 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City. Jamie VanderVeeken picked up the assist.

Rapid City's offense was clicking better than usual and put 37 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.8 shots per game it averages.

Rapid City additionally got points from Jared Brown, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Rapid City also got a goal from Winston Day Chief as well. More assists for Rapid City came via Kyle Peto, Scott Wray, Jordan Behler, Scott Brannon, and Dan Gendur, who contributed one a piece.

Bloomington excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Blaze did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Bloomington averages 3.7 goals per game. The Blaze put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 19.6 they average per game.

Bloomington was led by Brayden Metz, who scored the team's only goal. Metz scored 14:30 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Kyle Bochek assisted on the tally.

Rapid City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Pier-Olivier Pelletier made 33 saves for the Blaze on 37 shots. Bloomington incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
