Torrie Jung stood on his head and made 25 saves to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 4-1 victory over the Allen Americans.

Wichita was led by Ian Lowe, who grabbed one goal. Lowe scored on the power play 3:39 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wichita. The Thunder had gained a power play chance when Anthony Maiani was whistled for slashing. Kevin Young provided the assist.

Wichita was often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and three majors for 35 minutes in penalty time. The Thunder surpassed its season average of 17.0 penalty minutes per game. Wichita put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Allen to score on any of its five power plays. The defensemen of the Thunder were also effective in the Americans' zone, and came away with two goals.

Wichita additionally got points from Chad Painchaud, who also had one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Young, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from David Inman as well. More assists for Wichita came via RG Flath, who had two and Matt Summers, Les Reaney, and Andrew Martens, who each chipped in one.

Allen forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 10 minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. The Americans had been averaging 23.0 minutes in penalties per game. Allen was held below its usual level of production. The Americans put an average of 3.4 pucks into the net per game. With 26 shots on target during the contest, Allen exceeded the 22.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The Americans were led by Alex Penner, who scored the team's only goal. Penner scored 3:14 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Jason Deitsch picked up the assist.

Wichita registered three goals on 10 power play opportunities. The Thunder ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Summers was ejected from the game. Steve Silverthorn rejected 25 shots on goal for Allen.
