Allen beats Tulsa 5-1 as Schaafsma gets hat trick

BOK Center    Sun, Feb 10, 2013

A hat trick by Jamie Schaafsma was the highlight in Americans' 5-1 win against the Tulsa Oilers.

Schaafsma got on the scoresheet 6:46 into the first period. He then added goals at 1:31 into the second and at 19:25 into the second.

The Allen Americans were led by goalie Steve Silverthorn, who finished with 27 saves while allowing one goal. The solid play of Silverthorn will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.73.

Allen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Tulsa to score on any of its four power plays. The 28 shots that the Americans put on net surpassed Allen's average of 22.5 shots per game this season.

Allen also got points from Tyler Ludwig, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Allen also got a goal from Adam Pineault as well. More assists for Allen came via Kale Kerbashian, who had two and Trevor Hendrikx and Chris Doyle, who each chipped in three.

The Oilers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 28 shots on goal during the game, better than the 20.3 shots per game they average.

Tulsa was led by Michel Beausoleil, who dished out one assist.

The Americans totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. Shane Madolora recorded 23 saves for the Oilers. Tulsa ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
