Bloomington rips Allen, 5-2

The Bloomington Blaze were firing on all cylinders against the Allen Americans, and when the final buzzer sounded Blaze emerged with a 5-2 win.

Allen's power play was ineffective against Bloomington's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Blaze relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Jon Booras, Travis Granbois and Dan Barczuk took 13 of the team's 22 shots.

Bloomington was helped by Matthew Larke, who tallied one goal. Larke scored 17:58 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Bloomington. Nicolas Rioux assisted on the tally. Bloomington also got points from Barczuk, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Bloomington also got a goal from Phil Ginand as well. More assists for Bloomington came via Nicklas Lindberg, who had one and Steve Makway, who had two.

The Americans' defensemen bolstered Allen's offensive attack, as they bombarded Pier-Olivier Pelletier with 19 shots. With 43 shots on target during the contest, the Americans exceeded the 26.6 shots they average per game this year.

Allen was helped by Jamie Schaafsma, who grabbed one goal. Schaafsma scored 19:35 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bloomington. Tyler Ludwig provided the assist. Allen additionally got points from Ludwig, who also registered one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Anthony Maiani, who had one and Brett Skinner, who had two.

Pelletier recorded 41 saves for the Blaze. Bloomington incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Steve Silverthorn took the loss and made six saves before being replaced by Aaron Dell who made 11 saves. The Americans incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
