The Quad City Mallards tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Fort Worth Brahmas would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3.

Fort Worth took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Quad City storm back on a Bob Preece goal 19:13 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

The Brahmas' offense was clicking better than usual and put 23 shots on goal during the game, better than the 19.5 shots per game they average.

Fort Worth was helped by Calin Wild, who tallied one goal. Wild scored 6:54 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Fort Worth. Austin Mayer provided the assist. Fort Worth also got a goal from Riley Boychuk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fort Worth were Gregg Eskedjian, who had three and Sy Nutkevitch, Ross Rouleau, and John Snowden, who contributed one a piece.

The Mallards stifled the Brahmas' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The defensemen of Quad City were also effective in Fort Worth's zone, and came away with two goals. By firing 35 shots on goal, the Mallards exceeded the 26.9 shots they average per game this year.

Quad City was helped by Matt Duffy, who registered one goal. Duffy scored on the power play 15:57 into the third period to make the score 4-2 Fort Worth. The Mallards earned a power play opportunity when Snowden was put in the box for hooking. Mike Hellyer picked up the assist. Anthony Perdicaro also scored for Quad City. In addition, Quad City received assists from Mike Stinziani, who had two and Mickey Lang and Matt Boyd, who each chipped in one.

Kristofer Westblom recorded 32 saves for the Brahmas. Fort Worth incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Quad City's Neil Conway stopped 19 shots out of the 23 that he faced. The Mallards incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
