Allen survives Fort Worth comeback, wins 4-3

The Fort Worth Brahmas tried to dig themselves out of a three-goal hole, but the Allen Americans held on for a 4-3 victory.

Allen took a 4-1 lead during the third period, only to have Fort Worth storm back on a John Snowden goal 18:49 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Kip Brennan was all over the ice for the Americans, as he grabbed two goals in the win.

Allen's penalty kill unit could not stop the Brahmas' power play, which converted on two of three opportunities.

Ryley Grantham also scored for Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Tyler Ludwig, Brett Skinner, Brian McMillin, and Adam Pineault, who each chipped in one and Jason Deitsch and Jamie Schaafsma, who contributed two a piece.

Fort Worth's offense was clicking better than usual and put 36 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.6 shots per game it averages.

Fort Worth also got a goal from Tomas Klempa as well. In addition, Fort Worth received assists from Sy Nutkevitch and Nick Schneider, who each chipped in one and Shawn Szydlowski and Erik Spady, who contributed two a piece.

Steve Silverthorn rejected 33 shots on goal for the Americans. Allen totaled 26 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-5 on the power play. The Brahmas' Kristofer Westblom stopped 21 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Fort Worth ended with 31 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors.
