Andrew Martens finished with one point to lead the Wichita Thunder to a 3-1 victory over Rapid City. Wichita's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Rapid City power plays. The Thunder were hit hard by penalties in the contest, and totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. Wichita's offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.7 shots per game it averages. Wichita additionally got points from Ian Lowe, who also registered one goal and one assist. Wichita also got a goal from Gregor Hanson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were RG Flath, Matt Summers, Neil Trimm, and Nathan Lutz, who each chipped in one. Rapid City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Rapid City could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 19 minutes in penalties during the game. Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jarrett Konkle, Jamie VanderVeeken and Michael Couch took 12 of the team's 23 shots. In addition, Rapid City received assists from Riley Weselowski and Garrett Gruenke, who contributed one a piece. Torrie Jung made 22 saves for the Thunder on 23 shots. Danny Battochio recorded 38 saves for Rapid City.
