Missouri holds on for 4-2 win against WichitaSilverstein Eye Centers Arena Fri, Jan 04, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Wichita Thunder tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Missouri Mavericks would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-2. A goal by Kenton Miller put Missouri up 4-1 in the third period, but Wichita pulled to within two on Matt Summers' tally 7:17 into the third period. The Mavericks were led by Sebastien Thinel, who racked up one goal. Thinel scored 2:03 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Missouri. Ryan Jardine provided the assist. With 27 shots on target during the contest, Missouri exceeded the 23.7 shots it averages per game this year. Missouri also got a goal from John-Scott Dickson as well. More assists for Missouri came via Kyle Hood, Trevor Kell, Evan Vossen, Kellen Tochkin, and Colten Hayes, who contributed one a piece. The Thunder's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Missouri power plays. The 51 shots that Wichita put on net surpassed the Thunder's average of 27.7 shots per game this season. RG Flath also scored for Wichita. In addition, Wichita received assists from Jon Madden, Neil Trimm, Jarred Mohr, and Les Reaney, who each chipped in one. Mike Clemente rejected 49 shots on goal for the Mavericks. Missouri ended with 19 minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major. For the Mavericks, Andrew Courtney was ejected from the game. Kevin Regan recorded 23 saves for Wichita. The Thunder incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
