Huge game by Thinel boosts Missouri over Tulsa, 5-3

Behind a great game by Sebastien Thinel, who had two goals and two assists, the Missouri Mavericks defeated the Tulsa Oilers, 5-3.

Thinel's tallies came at 8:35 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri and short handed 16:49 into the third to make the score 4-3 Missouri.

Tulsa was unable to stop Missouri from sending pucks towards the net, and the Mavericks eventually piled up 39 shots on goal.

Dave Pszenyczny also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Evan Vossen, who had one and Brandon Smith, who had two.

The Oilers' offense was clicking better than usual and put 41 shots on goal during the game, better than the 22.7 shots per game they average.

Tulsa was helped by Gary Steffes, who racked up one goal and one assist. Steffes scored on the power play 12:59 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Oilers had gotten the advantage when Missouri's Kyle Hood was sent off for holding. Sean Erickson picked up the assist. Tulsa also got points from Ben Gordon, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Erickson, who also tallied one goal and one assist. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Ryan Menei, who had one and Mike Ullrich, who had two.

Mike Clemente recorded 38 saves for the Mavericks. Missouri incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Tulsa's Shane Madolora stopped 34 shots out of the 38 that he faced. The Oilers incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
