Darryl Bootland netted a hat trick to lead the Allen Americans over the Fort Worth Brahmas, 4-1. Bootland's first goal came 2:44 into the first period. He then added goals at 9:22 into the first and at 7:47 into the second.Fort Worth's 11 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Brahmas let up four goals while on the penalty kill. Allen was often in penalty trouble, totaling 10 minors and two majors for 40 minutes in penalty time. The Americans had been averaging 21.0 minutes in penalties per game. Allen excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in eight chances. Allen also got points from Trevor Ludwig, who also had one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Tyler Ludwig, who had four and Scotty Howes and Anthony Maiani, who each chipped in one. Fort Worth forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up nine minors and two majors for 38 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 13.0 minutes per game the Brahmas had been spending in the box. Fort Worth's offense revolved around and John Snowden, who put and 10 shots on net. The 24 shots that the Brahmas put on net surpassed Fort Worth's average of 18.2 shots per game this season. In addition, Fort Worth received assists from Chad Woollard and Calin Wild, who contributed one a piece. Aaron Dell made 23 saves for the Americans on 24 shots. The Brahmas' Kristofer Westblom stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced.
