Howes leads Allen over Fort Worth, 5-4

The Allen Americans' Scotty Howes had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 5-4 win over the Fort Worth Brahmas.

Howes scored at 13:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Allen and again while 16:24 into the third to make the score 5-4 Allen.

Allen pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 10 penalty minutes.

The Americans were below their usual level of shot production, taking 22 shots compared to the 30.0 Allen averages. The Americans cashed in on power play opportunities, scoring three goals on five chances.

Allen also got points from Tyler Ludwig, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Anthony Maiani, who also grabbed one goal and two assists, and Darryl Bootland, who also finished with one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Trevor Ludwig, who had two.

Fort Worth's offense was clicking better than usual and put 31 shots on goal during the game, better than the 19.5 shots per game it averages.

The Brahmas were helped by Calin Wild, who tallied two goals. Wild scored the first of his two goals at 11:25 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Jake Morley picked up the assist. Wild's next tally made the score 4-4 with 13:57 left in the third period. Austin Mayer provided the assist. Fort Worth additionally got points from Sy Nutkevitch, who also had one goal and one assist and Tomas Klempa, who also racked up one goal and one assist. More assists for Fort Worth came via Erik Spady and Nick Schneider, who each chipped in one.

Allen's starting goalie, Steve Silverthorn, made 27 saves and finished with the win before he was taken out in favor of Aaron Dell, who stopped zero shots. Kristofer Westblom recorded 17 saves for Fort Worth. The Brahmas incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
