Rapid City survives Arizona comeback, wins 3-2Rushmore Plaza Civic Arena Tue, Nov 13, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
The Arizona Sundogs tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but Rapid City held on for a 3-2 victory. Rapid City took a 3-1 lead during the second period, only to have Arizona storm back on a Chad Nehring goal 12:47 into the third period to pull to one goal down. Rapid City was led by Jared Brown, who tallied one goal. Brown scored on the power play 17:12 into the second period to make the score Rapid City. Rapid City had taken the advantage when the Sundogs' Jason Morgan got sent off for interference. Riley Weselowski picked up the assist. Rapid City stifled Arizona's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Rusty Masters also scored for Rapid City. Other players who recorded assists for Rapid City were Damian Surma, Scott Wray, John Snowden, and Justin Sawyer, who contributed one a piece. More assists for Arizona came via Derek LeBlanc, who had two and Zack Firlotte and Kyle Hood, who each chipped in one. Rapid City's Tim Boron stopped 28 shots out of the 30 that he faced. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. David Brown rejected 23 shots on goal for the Sundogs. Arizona incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
