Dan Bakala stood on his head and made 27 saves to lead the Tulsa Oilers to a 2-1 victory over Rapid City. Tulsa was paced by Matt Gingera, who tallied one goal. Gingera scored 13:15 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Tulsa. Michel Beausoleil provided the assist. The Oilers were below their usual level of shot production, taking 19 shots compared to the 24.8 Tulsa averages. Ben Gordon also scored for Tulsa. In addition, Tulsa received assists from Ullrich Mike, Ryan Menei, and Gary Steffes, who each chipped in one. Rapid City excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Riley Weselowski, Rusty Masters and John Snowden took 15 of the team's 28 shots. Rapid City was led by Jarrett Konkle, who scored the team's only goal. Konkle scored short handed 5:46 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Rapid City found itself down a man on Damian Surma's hooking. The Oilers incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Tim Boron rejected 17 shots on goal for Rapid City. Rapid City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
