Rapid City relied on the scoring touch of Jared Brown, who netted two goals, to beat the Arizona Sundogs, 2-1. Brown's tallies came at 1:25 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Rapid City and 3:48 into the second to make the score 2-0 Rapid City.Rapid City's Neil Conway was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 26 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Conway will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.52. Rapid City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Arizona to score on any of its three power plays. Rapid City relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as John Snowden, Scott Wray and Brown took 20 of the team's 39 shots. More assists for Rapid City came via Jordan Baker, Garrett Gruenke, and Scott Brannon, who contributed one a piece. With 27 shots on target during the contest, the Sundogs exceeded the 24.1 shots they average per game this year. Arizona was led by Johan Ryd, who scored the team's only goal. Ryd scored 8:37 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Rapid City. Adam Smyth provided the assist. Rapid City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. David Brown rejected 37 shots on goal for the Sundogs. Arizona incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
