Regan leads Wichita to shutout victory over Missouri

Kevin Regan recorded a shutout against the Missouri Mavericks as the Wichita Thunder picked up a 3-0 win.

Wichita was paced by Chad Painchaud, who had one goal and one assist. Painchaud scored 4:02 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita. Ian Lowe assisted on the tally.

The Thunder excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Wichita was below its usual level of shot production, taking 26 shots compared to the 35.0 the Thunder average. Wichita got an offensive boost from its blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Wichita also got a goal from Kevin Young as well. In addition, Wichita received assists from Matt Summers, who had one and Neil Trimm, who had two.

Missouri stifled the Thunder's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Mavericks failed to reach their usual level of shot production, putting 25 pucks on goal after averaging 35.3 shots per game this season. Missouri could not produce up to it normal offensive output. The Mavericks put an average of 3.5 pucks into the net per game. Missouri's offense was helped by the efforts of its defensemen, who managed to put 11 shots on net during the game.

The Mavericks were led by Jamie VanderVeeken, who took six shots.

Regan recorded 25 saves for Wichita. The Thunder incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Mathieu Corbiel rejected 23 shots on goal for Missouri. The Mavericks incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
