Silverthorn leads Allen to shutout victory over Arizona

The Allen Americans used a sparkling performance by Steve Silverthorn to take down the Arizona Sundogs, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Allen's 4-0 shutout victory.

The Americans' penalty kill excelled, as Allen gave up zero goals despite allowing six power plays.

The Americans stifled Arizona's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

Allen was helped by Adam Pineault, who had one goal and one assist. Pineault scored 9:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Tyler Ludwig picked up the assist. Allen additionally got points from Darryl Bootland, who also registered one goal and one assist. Scotty Howes also scored for Allen. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Derek Matheson, who had one and Brett Skinner, who had two.

The Sundogs were led by Don Maloney Jr., who took three shots.

Silverthorn rejected 30 shots on goal for the Americans. Allen incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. David Brown recorded 12 saves for Arizona. The Sundogs incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
