In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Wichita Thunder escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets.

Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Thomas Beauregard's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker.

After the loss made the series score 1-3 in the best of seven series, Fort Wayne faces elimination next time out.

Wichita was paced by Beauregard, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Beauregard scored 10:10 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wichita. Travis Wight picked up the assist.

Wichita also got points from Daniel Tetrault, who also registered one goal and two assists to lead the team in points, Aaron Davis, who also had one goal and one assist, and Matt Summers, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita were Chris Chappell and Chris Greene, who each chipped in one.

The Komets forced the Thunder goalie Bryan Hogan to work between the pipes, taking 39 shots.

Fort Wayne was helped by Jean-Michel Rizk, who grabbed one goal. Rizk scored on the power play 5:52 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Fort Wayne. The Komets had taken the advantage when Wichita's Erick Lizon got sent off for roughing. Bryant Molle assisted on the tally. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Mike Vaskivuo as well. More assists for Fort Wayne came via Jamie Lovell, Daniel Maggio, and Stephon Thorne, who contributed one a piece.

The Thunder's Hogan stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Wichita totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Nick Boucher recorded 17 saves for Fort Wayne. The Komets totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-8 on the power play.
