Texas survives Allen comeback, wins 4-2

Allen almost clawed its way back from a three-goal deficit, but the Texas Brahmas managed to pull out a 4-2 win in the end.

Texas led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Brahmas' Mike Hellyer's scored at 1:59 in the third period to put Texas up 3-0.

The win by the Brahmas clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

Hellyer was all over the ice for Texas, as he finished with two goals in the win.

Brett Findlay also scored for Texas. Other players who recorded assists for Texas were Brendon Hodge, who had two and Jim Burichin, Andrew Lackner, Ross Rouleau, Sy Nutkevitch, and Calin Wild, who each chipped in one.

The defense for Allen played an important role offensively, racking up 10 shots on goal.

Allen was led by Jason Deitsch, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Deitsch scored 13:11 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Texas. Joshua Hepditch assisted on the tally. Allen also got a goal from Keith Johnson as well. More assists for Allen came via Scott Langdon and Jim McKenzie, who contributed one a piece.

Brad Fogal rejected 22 shots on goal for the Brahmas. Texas incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Marco Cousineau recorded 25 saves for Allen. Allen totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play. Allen ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jarret Lukin was ejected from the game.
