Texas beats Allen 5-4 after comeback scareNYTEX Brahmas Wed, Apr 04, 2012 Story by Narrative Science.
Allen tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but the Texas Brahmas held on for a 5-4 victory. A goal by Jim Burichin put Texas up 4-2 in the third period, but Allen pulled to within one on Jason Deitsch's tally 8:55 into the third period. The win by the Brahmas broke a deadlock and gave Texas a 2-1 advantage in the best of seven series. TJ Fox was all over the ice for the Brahmas, as he tallied two goals in the win. Fox's tallies came short handed at 10:19 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Texas and 12:43 into the third to make the score 5-4 Texas. Texas made Allen's netminders to work between the pipes, launching 32 shots and forcing 27 saves. Marco Cousineau made nine stops and Rejean Beauchemin made 18. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Brendon Hodge also scored for Texas. More assists for Texas came via Sy Nutkevitch, who had two and Gregg Eskedjian, Chad Woollard, Andrew Lackner, and Adam Hogg, who contributed one a piece. Allen was helped by Bruce Graham, who grabbed one goal. Graham scored 9:23 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Allen. Jim McKenzie picked up the assist. Allen also got points from Jarret Lukin, who also had one goal and one assist and Deitsch, who also registered one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Allen also got a goal from Brett Clouthier as well. Other players who recorded assists for Allen were Jake Newton, who had two and Brian McMillin, Colton Yellow Horn, and Mark Nebus, who each chipped in one. Brad Fogal took the win and made 19 saves before being replaced by Mark Guggenberger who made three saves. The Brahmas totaled 31 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. For Texas, Erik Spady was ejected from the game. Allen incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors.
