Behind a great game by Daniel Tetrault, who had two goals, the Wichita Thunder defeated the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees, 6-2. Tetrault scored on the power play at 12:24 into the first period to make the score 1-1 and again while 7:29 into the second to make the score 3-2 Wichita.The win by Wichita clinched the best of seven series at 4-1. The Thunder forced Killer Bees' netminders to work between the pipes, taking 37 shots and forcing 31 saves. John Murray made 25 stops and Wylie Rogers made six. Wichita's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Rio Grande Valley power plays. The Thunder got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed three goals during the game. Wichita also got points from Kevin Young, who also had one goal and one assist. Wichita also had goals scored by Thomas Beauregard, who had one and RG Flath, who had two. In addition, Wichita received assists from Matt Robinson, who had two and Kevin Seibel, Alex Bourret, and Matt Summers, who each chipped in one. Rio Grande Valley relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Jason Dixon, Aaron Lee and Tomas Klempa took eight of the team's 15 shots. More assists for Rio Grande Valley came via Zac Pearson, who had one. Adam Russo made 13 saves for Wichita on 15 shots. The Thunder incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Rio Grande Valley incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors.
