Rapid City falls to Fort Wayne in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

Mike Vaskivuo gave the Fort Wayne Komets a 4-3 (OT) victory over Rapid City when he scored 51 seconds into the extra period.

The win by Fort Wayne clinched the best of seven series at 4-2.

The Komets were sparked by Vaskivuo, who had one goal and one assist.

Fort Wayne kept Rapid City's goalie busy throughout the game, and Tim Boron made 36 saves on 40 shots. The Komets got an offensive boost from their blueliners, who contributed two goals during the game.

Fort Wayne also got points from Brent Henley, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Jamie Lovell also scored for Fort Wayne. In addition, Fort Wayne received assists from Jamie Milam, who had two and Bobby Chaumont and Chris Auger, who contributed one a piece.

Rapid City was helped by Les Reaney, who registered one goal. Reaney scored 16:46 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Fort Wayne. Dave Grimson assisted on the tally. Rapid City additionally got points from Konrad Reeder, who also finished with one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Rapid City also got a goal from Scott Wray as well. More assists for Rapid City came via Riley Weselowski, Dominic DAmour, Collin Circelli, and Shawn Limpright, who each chipped in one.

Nick Boucher recorded 26 saves for Fort Wayne. The Komets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Rapid City incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
