Boyer's hat trick boosts Quad City over Bloomington, 5-2

Jeremy Boyer netted a hat trick to lead the Quad City Mallards over the Bloomington Blaze, 5-2.

Boyer got on the scoresheet 8:29 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:28 into the third and at 19:20 into the third.

Quad City's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Bloomington power plays. The Mallards put 46 shots on net during the contest, more than the 33.3 they average per game.

Brandon Marino also scored for Quad City. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Darren McMillan, who had two and Jared Brown, Justin Chwedoruk, Justin Hofstetter, and Eric Giosa, who contributed one a piece.

Bloomington's offense rang up 39 shots on Quad City's net.

The Blaze were helped by Jason Dale, who had one goal. Dale scored 17:43 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Quad City. Vladimir Nikiforov assisted on the tally. Bloomington also got a goal from Travis Granbois as well.

The Mallards' David McKee stopped 37 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Quad City incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Zane Kalemba made 41 saves for Bloomington on 45 shots. The Blaze incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
