Quad City downs Fort Wayne, 5-2

Eric Giosa tallied one point to lead the Quad City Mallards to a 5-2 victory over the Fort Wayne Komets.

Quad City kept Fort Wayne's goalie busy throughout the game, and Nick Boucher made 30 saves on 35 shots.

Quad City also got points from Mickey Lang, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Jared Brown also scored for Quad City. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Brandon Marino, who had two and Jared Lavender and Jeremy Boyer, who each chipped in one.

The Komets excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. Fort Wayne's offense rang up 37 shots on the Mallards' net.

The Komets were helped by Colin Chaulk, who racked up one goal. Chaulk scored short handed 11:21 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fort Wayne. Fort Wayne played down a man on Brent Henley's hooking. Chris Auger provided the assist. Fort Wayne also got a goal from Stephon Thorne as well. In addition, Fort Wayne received assists from Frankie DeAngelis and Kaleigh Schrock, who contributed one a piece.

David Brown recorded 35 saves for Quad City. The Mallards ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major. The Komets totaled 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
