Tulsa holds on for 5-4 win against Missouri

The Tulsa Oilers survived a determined comeback attempt by the Missouri Mavericks on the way to a 5-4 win.

Tulsa made the score 3-0 on a goal by Mike Ullrich at 9:03 in the second period, and Missouri got as close as 3-2 when Dave Pszenyczny scored 43 seconds into the third period.

The Oilers were led by Ryan Cramer, who registered one goal. Cramer scored 11:15 into the third period to make the score 5-3 Tulsa. Marty Standish picked up the assist.

The defensemen of Tulsa were also effective in the Mavericks' zone, and came away with two goals. The 34 shots that the Oilers put on net surpassed Tulsa's average of 26.5 shots per game this season.

Tulsa additionally got points from Dylan Clarke, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Tulsa also got a goal from Travis Mealy as well. In addition, Tulsa received assists from David Solway, Troy Ofukany, Jeff Terminesi, and Drew Fisher, who each chipped in one.

Missouri's defensemen were a huge part of the offense, scoring three goals and taking 14 shots. By firing 33 shots on goal, the Mavericks exceeded the 28.2 shots they average per game this year.

Missouri also got points from Ed McGrane, who also racked up one goal and two assists. Matt McCready also scored for Missouri. Other players who recorded assists for Missouri were Sebastien Thinel, who had two and Brandon Coccimiglio, Andrew Courtney, and John-Scott Dickson, who contributed one a piece.

Steve Christie rejected 29 shots on goal for the Oilers. Tulsa totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and three majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Charlie Effinger recorded 29 saves for Missouri. The Mavericks totaled 28 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors and went 2-for-2 on the power play.
