Texas uses shootout to best Missouri, 4-3 (1-0 SO)

Adam Hogg scored the clinching goal in a shootout, and the Texas Brahmas picked up the extra point in a 4-3 (1-0 SO) win over the Missouri Mavericks.

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout.

Texas came back from a one-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Brahmas trailed 3-2 after a goal by Missouri's Ed McGrane at 11:03 in the third period. Texas knotted things up at 3-3 on a goal by Phil Fox at 12:41 in the third period.

The the Brahmas penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 17 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 14.0 minutes per game Texas had been spending in the box. The Brahmas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances.

Texas was led by Hogg, who dished out two assists.

By firing 32 shots on goal, the Mavericks exceeded the 28.1 shots they average per game this year.

Missouri was helped by Kris Hogg, who had one goal. Hogg scored 4:22 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Missouri. Patrick Schafer picked up the assist. Missouri also got a goal from John-Scott Dickson as well. More assists for Missouri came via Mike Wakita and Tristin Llewellyn, who contributed one a piece.

Mark Guggenberger recorded 29 saves for the Brahmas. Texas registered one goal on three power play opportunities. Charlie Effinger made 23 saves for the Mavericks on 26 shots. Missouri ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
