Booras nets hat trick, leads Bloomington to 6-2 win over Evansville

Jon Booras lifted the Bloomington Blaze to a 6-2 victory with a hat trick against the Evansville IceMen.

Booras' first goal came 2:35 into the first period. He then added goals at 10:16 into the first and at 10:15 into the second.

Bloomington surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Blaze average 2.8 goals per game. With 32 shots on target during the contest, Bloomington exceeded the 26.5 shots it averages per game this year.

Bloomington additionally got points from Jordy Trottier, who also tallied one goal and two assists and Doug Krantz, who also registered one goal and one assist. Kyle Laughlin also scored for Bloomington. Other players who recorded assists for Bloomington were Brandon Richardson, who had three and Omar Pacha and Luke Popko, who each chipped in one.

Evansville was often in penalty trouble, totaling nine minors and one major for 53 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the IceMen had been spending in the box. By firing 34 shots on goal, Evansville exceeded the 30.1 shots it averages per game this year.

The IceMen were led by Matt Pierce, who grabbed one goal. Pierce scored 6:39 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Bloomington. Karl Linden provided the assist. Evansville also got a goal from Nicklas Lindberg as well. More assists for Evansville came via Brian Bicek, Sean OConnor, and John Ronan, who contributed one a piece.

Zane Kalemba rejected 32 shots on goal for the Blaze. Bloomington totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-7 on the power play. The Blaze ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Ryan Palmer was ejected from the game. Bryan Gillis took the loss and made 18 saves before being replaced by Pier-Olivier Pelletier who made eight saves. Evansville registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. For the IceMen, Mario Boillard and Steve Makway were ejected from the contest.
