Draft Status: 2014 – Boston Red Sox (36th Round, 1094th Overall)

Wilpon is returning to the Newport Gulls for a second season, and finished his sophomore season with the Quakers appearing in four games, striking out three batters in five innings, and held opposing hitters to a .235 average. Last year for the Gulls, Wilpon appeared in nine games, striking out six over 12 innings of work.

He was ranked by Perfect Game as the 14th best prospect in Connecticut and seventh best right-handed pitcher. He was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 36th round of the 2014 MLB Draft.

While at the Brunswick School, Wilpon was a four-year letter winner in baseball. He served as the team captain during his senior season, and was selected to All-League teams during his junior and senior season.
