Jiwan joins the Bluefish for his Atlantic League debut during his eighth year of professional baseball. Last season, the outfielder appeared in nine games as a member of Double-A Reading (Phillies) of the Eastern League, where he collected a .333 batting average in 21 at-bats.

The 25-year-old spent his entire minor league career as a member of the Phillies organization, peaking at the Double-A level. Over the course of 466 games, he owns a .265 batting average with 256 runs scored, 78 doubles, 17 home runs, 161 RBI and 87 stolen bases.

James was originally drafted as a pitcher by the Philadelphia Phillies in the 22nd round of the 2007 amateur draft. He spent only one year on the mound before an injury forced the five-tool prospect to convert to the outfield.
