A PLU sophomore from Mill Creek, Wash., Derrick was 2-1 with a 4.60 ERA in eight games with the Knights in 2014. He had 25 strikeouts in 29.1 innings and held opponents to a .257 batting average.

He was a second-team Northwest Conference all-star as a freshman at PLU and helped lead the Lutes into the NCAA tournament. He was 7-3 with a 2.28 ERA in 11 games, with 77 strikeouts in 71 innings.
