Peter was a two time All Bay Valley Conference selection at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg, CA. In 2013, he was 6-4 with 103 innings pitched & had an ERA of 3.48 for a team that came one game away from beating the state #1 ranked Santa Rosa team during the state playoffs.

For the Merchants in 2013, Peter was one of the better pitchers in the GSCBL. He sported an ERA of 2.40 (good for 4th lowest amongst starters in the GSCBL behind teammates George Asmus and Matt Fontaine). He held opposing teams to a batting average of .260 and was 3-0 with one save.

Nyznyk is currently in his junior season at Butler University (Big East Conference), where he was recently the winning pitcher during Coach Steve Farley's 600th win - a 6-5 decision over Ball State. Nyznyk threw 6 innings (not giving up a hit until the 5th) and gave up 2 earned runs.
