An outstanding effort by Chad Blackwell lifted the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (27-24) to a 5-0 win over the Hawaii Stars (22-23) on Wednesday at Wong Stadium.
The Maui Na Koa Ikaika's Blackwell kept the Hawaii Stars off the scoreboard for all nine innings he was on the hill. He pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on eight hits while ringing up eight.
Jose M Sanchez led the Maui Na Koa Ikaika's offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the eighth inning.
Bryan Herrera (3-3) took the loss for the Hawaii Stars. He lasted just seven innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
