The Hawaii Stars (21-22) came out firing, but couldn't hang on to the lead, ending up on the losing side of a 6-1 ballgame against the Maui Na Koa Ikaika (26-23) on Monday at Wong Stadium.

An RBI single by Joseph Kala gave the Maui Na Koa Ikaika the lead in the fourth inning.

Waylen Sing Chow racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Maui Na Koa Ikaika. He singled in the first inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Jessie Smith's seven strikeouts helped the Maui Na Koa Ikaika to the victory. Smith allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over seven innings.

Ronnie Loeffler (6-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in seven innings, walked three and struck out eight.
