The San Rafael Pacifics get key pinch-hit in 9-8 victory over the Hawaii Stars

Story by Narrative Science.

Steve Detwiler was cold coming off the bench, but Detwiler warmed up quickly as Detwiler stroked a key pinch-hit single in the eight to lead the San Rafael Pacifics (22-12) to a 9-8 win over the Hawaii Stars (18-16) on Friday at Albert Park.

With the score tied at eight, Detwiler came to the plate and singled.

The San Rafael Pacifics found themselves down in the fifth inning but managed to fight back and claim the win.

The two teams combined for 17 runs and 16 hits, including zero extra base hits. There were nine pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Julian Arballo improved to 4-2 on the year by picking up the win for the San Rafael Pacifics. Arballo struck out none, walked none and gave up one hit.

Cortney Arruda ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked four, struck out five, and allowed four runs.

The San Rafael Pacifics were sparked by Steve Boggs and Johnny Woodard, who teamed up for three hits and two RBIs.
