The Edinburg Roadrunners (3-2) beat the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings (1-4) 6-1 on Sunday at Harlingen Field behind Tim Battle, who knocked in three runs.

Ryan Smith picked up the win for the Edinburg Roadrunners. Smith allowed one earned run, five hits and three walks while striking out four over six innings of work.

Coleman Stephens (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked one and struck out two.

The Edinburg Roadrunners went up for good in the second, scoring two runs on an RBI double by Osiel Flores and an RBI single by Derek Perren.

In the fourth inning, the Rio Grande Valley Whitewings pushed across their only run of the day on an RBI single by Mario Mercedes.
