Avell hits and pitches the Ball Busters to 14-2 victory

Anthony Avell powered the Ball Busters (10-4) at the plate and on the bump Sunday, willing the Ball Busters to a 14-2 victory over the No Mercy.

Avell had three extra-base hits for the Ball Busters. He doubled in the first and second innings and homered in the fourth inning.

Avell picked up the win for the Ball Busters. Avell pitched six innings and allowed two earned runs, six hits and no walks while striking out one.

Nine runs in the opening three innings allowed the Ball Busters to easily put away the No Mercy (8-6). An RBI single by Jon Galfano, a two-run double by Avell, a two-run single by Brian Hough, and a groundout by Paul Losito during the first inning and a solo home run by James Silva and a groundout by Mike Verdi in the second inning fueled the Ball Busters' offense early.

Jamie Taylor was solid at the plate for the No Mercy. Taylor went 1-2, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the third inning.

Phil Savanna was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.

The Ball Busters pounded the No Mercy pitching, as eight hitters combined for 21 hits, 14 RBIs and 11 runs scored.
