An impressive effort by Dan Muglavera carried the South Shore Diggers (9-5) to a 16-13 win in seven innings over the Peters Luncheonette (6-2) on Thursday at Shorefront Park.
Muglavera blasted two home runs for the South Shore Diggers. Muglavera went 3-4 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Muglavera homered in the second and sixth innings.
Chris Philips rocked the South Shore Diggers with two home runs. Philips went 3-4 in the game with two RBIs and two runs scored. Philips homered in the fifth and seventh innings.
Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 29 total runs and 36 hits during the game.
The South Shore Diggers scored seven runs in the first inning to build an early lead.
Even though Muglavera allowed 13 runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his sixth of the season. He struck out none, walked four and surrendered 14 hits.
Philips was charged with his second loss of the year. He allowed 16 runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked one and struck out one.
The South Shore Diggers hammered the Peters Luncheonette pitching as six hitters had a field day, combining for 18 hits, 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored.
