The Peters Luncheonette (6-1) failed to take advantage of Chris Angelora's effort at the plate on Thursday, losing 21-17 to the South Shore Diggers (8-5) in seven innings at Shorefront Park.
Angelora hit three home runs for the Peters Luncheonette. Angelora went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Angelora homered in the first, fourth, and seventh innings.
Ryan Klett racked up six RBIs on four hits for the South Shore Diggers. He singled in the second and fifth innings and homered in the third and sixth innings.
Both squads had things going at the plate, tallying 38 runs and 60 hits, including zero extra base hits.
The game was back-and-forth heading into the third, with five lead changes.
Even though Dan Muglavera allowed 17 runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his fifth of the season. Muglavera struck out one, walked four and gave up 26 hits.
Chris Philips couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Peters Luncheonette, taking a loss. He allowed 21 runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out none.
The South Shore Diggers hammered the Peters Luncheonette pitching as nine hitters had a field day, combining for 32 hits, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored.
