Down six runs in the fifth, the Louisville Chuggers (1-8) recovered thanks to John McCorty's single in the seventh, and pulled out a 8-7 win over the Hunter Display (4-8) on Wednesday at Shorefront Park.
With the score tied at seven, McCorty came to the plate and singled, bringing home Kevin Connolly.
McCorty reached base three times in the game for the Louisville Chuggers. He also drove in one runner. He singled in the fourth and seventh innings.
The Louisville Chuggers were led by a flawless day at the dish by John Mattimore, who went 3-3 against the Hunter Display's pitching. He singled in the third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Mike Campites went a perfect 4-4 at the dish for the Hunter Display. He singled in the second, fourth, fifth, and seventh innings.
Even though McCorty allowed seven runs over seven innings he still recorded the victory, his first of the season. McCorty struck out none, walked three and gave up 16 hits.
Sandy Stoll was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed eight runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out none.
